The town of Essex is located in Essex County in the state of New York. Cedarwood Engineering Services PLLC was retained to design a new front porch for the town hall. This building was originally built in the 1790’s with an addition constructed in the 1820’s. Architecturally this building is American Federal style and the new front porch was designed to copy the existing porch that was on the building in 1911 which was previously torn down. Challenges on this design involved incorporating the new structural load criteria and building codes into the design while keeping the existing 1911 porch design intact.
